Get Tax Relief on Life Assurance Cover - What's in a Name?
By using Relevant Life Policies (if you trade as a Limited Company), you can get Corporation Tax relief on life assurance premiums and not be taxed on a benefit in kind. How? Well, the company pays the premium (an allowable expense for corporation tax). In the event of a claim on the policy, proceeds are paid from a Relevant Life Trust to beneficiaries, and the premiums are not treated as a taxable benefit. If premiums are paid by a company on a policy that's not a Relevant Life Policy then the premiums are a taxable benefit.
